EchoStar Adds NHL Network HD
The satcaster says it has more HD channels than anyone.

By Phillip Swann, tvpredictions.com EchoStar's Dish Network is adding the new NHL Network HD channel to its high-def lineup.
The satcaster says the new channel will give it 75 high-def channels, more than any other TV provider.
DIRECTV says it now has 74 HD channels, but the two companies are not in an agreement over what constitutes a channel. Both are including PPV channels in their count, but there are disputes over some regional sports networks and other channels each company defines as channels.
"For the past two years, Dish Network has pioneered the HD revolution by offering consumers the most HD channels -- a fact that still holds true today," Eric Sahl, senior vice president of programming for Dish Network, said in a statement.
The NHL Network HD is a 24-hour channel that will offer 50 live regular season games in high-def as well news and information shows.
Subscribers to EchoStar's 'America's Top 100' package (or above) will get NHL Network HD for free on channel 403.
