By Phillip Swann, tvpredictions.com EchoStar's Dish Network yesterday officially added The History Channel HD to its lineup of High-Definition channels.
The satcaster had announced in August that it would launch the channel on September 1, but did not actually add it until Tuesday.
With the addition of History Channel HD, EchoStar now offers 39 national high-def channels, more than any other pay TV service.
The satcaster was also the first TV provider to offer History Channel HD, which just launched this month. DIRECTV is expected to add the channel in the coming weeks. “DISH Network is pleased to offer The History Channel HD, which exemplifies the top-quality programming our DishHD customers enjoy,” said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of programming for DISH Network. “Not only are we adding to our industry-leading HD channel lineup, but we are providing history buffs even more reason to want high definition.”
The History Channel HD, a simulcast of the network's standard definition channel, offers such shows as Ice Road Truckers, Dogfights, Lost Worlds and Digging for the Truth.
History Channel HD is now channel 9491 on EchoStar's Dish Network.
