HDTV: DIRECTV Won't Raise Prices
The satcaster says it will hold the line on retail offerings.

DIRECTV said yesterday that it won't raise retail prices after expanding its High-Definition lineup.
That's according to an article by the Associated Press.
The satcaster says it will offer 100 high-def channels by year's end, with dozens starting to be added this September.
DIRECTV had earlier said it wouldn't raise the price of its HD programming packages, but yesterday it added that it would not touch the retail price of a satellite receiver as well.
DIRECTV Chief Financial Officer Mike Palkovic told the Wachovia Securities 2007 conference that the company will launch a new satellite on July 7 to enable it to expand its high-def lineup.
He added that a second new satellite will be launched in the first half of next year, which will be operational by the second half of 2008, AP reports.
