Non-HD DirecTV / UPN (WNYA) sound problems

I've got a problem when watching WNYA via DirecTV. Namely there are some annoying sound artifacts that only show up on that channel. I've noticed that the noises correspond somewhat to occassions when there are graphics on the screen (ie. basketball games when they show the score, or Star Trek: Enterprise when there is a digitally rendered special effect). I can't understand what the problem is, and as I have never come across this problem with any other channel, I can't help but believe the problem lies within the DirecTV feed.

Am I the only one who has had this experience?

WNYA responded very quickly when I approached them about this problem. They immediately contacted DirecTV, who made adjustments to remedy this problem.

I think it's all taken care of, but I haven't had a chance to check things out myself just yet.

I'm told DirecTV had a bad encoder. They have fixed the problem.
