Comments: I noticed I did not have DD5.1 sound last night during the Sopranos, but thought it must be a network thing.
This morning, I turned on my system and switched to HBO on channel 1880. I still had 2 channel stereo, so I went to the Audio:Digital Out portion of the settings menu. It listed the Audio:Digital Out as Dolby Digital, however I was only getting 2 channel stereo on my receiver.
I moved the highlighted cursor over to the Dolby Digital "status" and the DD5.1 indication immediately lit up on my receiver.
The same thing happened to me previously during the 2006 Super Bowl when I noticed my audio receiver was not in DD 5.1 mode. It should automatically go into Dolby Digital Surround 5.1 when such a signal is received.
I switched to my OTA receiver and the receiver recognized the DD 5.1 signal, so I knew the game was in fact in DD 5.1. I switched back to the 8300HD DVR and the DD 5.1 signal dropped out. I then went into the SETTINGS menu of the DVR and made sure the AUDIO OUT was set to DOLBY DIGITAL. I moved the cursor to DD and pressed it to confirm the setting. Immediately, my audio receiver noticed the DD 5.1 signal.
I am requesting that you inform me of your progress to fix this issue, as it is not an isolated problem. Others on the AlbanyHDTV.com website have experienced this problem, as well. Thank you.
