WNYT-TV and Time Warner Cable of Albany announced Thursday an agreement that will allow the cable company to transmit WNYT's digital signal to all of its customers. The agreement comes on the eve of the Olympic Summer Games in Athens and will allow properly equipped Time Warner Cable customers to receive a special high-definition feed of NBC's Olympic coverage. You need a high-definition TV and an HDTV converter from Time Warner Cable. Don't have an HDTV converter yet? The Olympics begin Friday night at 8 with the Opening Ceremony in Athens and continue through Monday, Aug. 30.
Here are the HDTV highlights, according to NBC:
* 399 hours
* 24 hours per day (four hours on Aug. 13 — Opening Ceremony; eight hours on Aug. 30 — Closing Ceremony)
* 1-hour delay on Aug. —Opening Ceremony
* 9-hour delay on Aug. 30 — Closing Ceremony
* Completely different production from the standard definition broadcast on the network
* Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony and six sports:
o Swimming
o Diving
o Gymnastics
o Track & Field
o Medal Rounds of Basketball
o Men's Soccer Gold
