Mr. Taubkin:

On April 7, 2004, I received a mailing from TWC that listed the HD channels. WNYT HD was listed as “Coming Soon”.

Photos of the mailing and some discussion on this subject are posted here.

Would you please update me on the status of the “Coming Soon” for WNYT? When is “Soon”?

If you don’t mind, would you also please update me on:

The status of WRGB HD?

and

The status of the 8000HD DVR’s software update that will supposedly activate the DVI port and correct the audio and video problems when displaying dark images?

Hello Mark:

1) On WNYT, an agreement between Time Warner Cable (Corporate) and the company that owns WNYT (Hubbard Broadcasting) would have to be reached to allow for carriage. Locally, we here at Time Warner Cable are ready technically and otherwise to carry the signal. At such point that an agreement may be reached, we’d certainly make an announcement to our customers.

2) WRGB - I have no update or news of a change in circumstances.

3) I am aware that Scientific Atlanta is working on a software update, but have no release date to report.

So given Peter's answer to number 1, a better question would be, "Why did you state previously that WNYT was Coming Soon if the current circumstances were the same at the time of the announcement?"

His answer to number one also sounds exactly like his previous answers to number 2. More evidence that TWC proactively attempts to confuse the issue for viewers in an attempt to create viewer hostility toward the affiliate.

Response from him is pretty accurate. Orginally TWC had agreements that when local HD's were availble, they would be offered on TWC. Only WMHT, WTEN and FOX (widescreen) have stuck to that agreement. Thats what I have heard when emailing TWC.
