Hi Everyone,
I just got off the phone with TWC Albany becuase I was a little miffed that the world cup coverage will mostly be on ESPN2 and we do not currently receive that channel in HD.
I must say that I am more frustrated after speaking with them. At first the representative implied that ESPN2 did not have an HD feed. After I pointed out that two of their competitors carried the channel, she informed me that it is why their rates are so high (FiOS and Dish). The rep went on to describe all of the additional costs that they had associated with them that help cover the cost of supplying that feed. I told her that I am already paying an additional cost to TWC for ESPNHD and that I was not asking for it to be free. The rep then stated there has not been any demand for ESPN2HD, and when pressed she indicated that only 25 subscribers had called and requested the channel.
I am calling on this board to call in and voice a request for ESPN2HD. Then ask anyone you know with TWC HD to call in and request the channel too. She indicated that getting 400 requests would certainly help elevate the need for the channel. Additionally, I am going to write an email to Peter Taubkin to request the channel, and would urge you to do the same.
As a side note, she indiciated that a little less than half the current TWC subscriber base is on HD, does that number seem high?
