On-Demand Pact for Time Warner, Turner
July 11, 2005
Multichannel News
Time Warner Cable will distribute TBS On Demand and Turner Network Television On Demand under terms of an agreement with Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
Each network will provide between eight and 10 hours of programming, Turner said.
The MSO said systems currently signed up to carry the video-on-demand content are Austin and El Paso/Rio Grande, Texas; Binghamton and Syracuse, N.Y.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Los Angeles.
TBS On Demand will showcase shorts and highlights from current and upcoming TBS original programming, including Minding the Store and Daisy Does America, as well as Turner original movies such as Sweet Revenge, Crazy from the Heart and T-Bone & Weasel.
Meanwhile, TNT On Demand will feature TNT original movies and series that complement monthly programming themes and genres on the linear network, as well as behind-the-scenes footage, long-form trailers, music videos and other content centered on current originals such as Into the West and The Closer.
“The launch of TBS On Demand and TNT On Demand exemplifies the ongoing commitment by Turner to deliver high-quality, advanced media products and services to consumers,” Turner Network Sales executive vice president of sales and marketing Coleman Breland said in a prepared statement.
“In addition, making this VOD content available allows us to help drive Time Warner Cable’s digital efforts and to engage their consumers in new and innovative ways,” he added.

New channels on Time Warner Digital Cable
Time Warner Cable announces that two new Free On Demand channels were added to the Digital Cable lineup this week:
TBS On Demand is on channel 1036
TNT On Demand is on channel 1037
Also, channel 560 is now Current TV, the brainchild of former Vice President Al Gore. Current TV began telecasting on Aug. 1. Current TV offers short-form programming that explores the people, places, happenings and hot-button issues of interest to young adults. Viewers can contribute their own video content and help program the network by selecting their favorite videos from among those submitted to Current's online studio. A strategic partnership with Google anchors the youth network's free-flowing pods each half-hour with "GoogleCurrent."
WRNN, channel 91, offers metro New York and tri-state (NY/NJ/CT) news, weather, financial, sports, infomercials/shopping and other programming.

Of this announcement only TNT has an HD channel, if their on-demand channel is like the HBO on-demand you will see HD programming available via this new channel.
Please note: No offense taken. To err is human, to really foul things up requires a computer.
