Batter Up! Mets Back On Time Warner Cable May 09, 2005 NY1
Good news for Mets fans: The dispute between Cablevision and Time Warner Cable is over, meaning Time Warner customers can finally see Mets games on MSG and Fox Sports New York for the first time this season.
First up is Monday night's game against the Chicago Cubs.
In a joint statement issued Monday, the cable giants said a deal was brokered by State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer during an all-day negotiating session Monday.
Mets fans who are Time Warner Cable customers have been unable to watch their team play on Fox Sports New York and MSG Network since the season started last month. The games were blacked out because of a dispute between Cablevision, which owns the two networks, and Time Warner.
The sticking point has been the fee Time Warner pays Cablevision to carry the networks - Cablevision wanted Time Warner to pay more.
Cablevision wanted to send the dispute to binding arbitration, but Time Warner wanted to keep the games on at the current rate while they negotiated a deal. Time Warner has been refunding its customers $$2 per month during the blackout.
Time Warner Cable is the parent company of NY1.
