Adelphia Cable is now offering a limited HD tier consisting of HDNet, HDNet Movies, Discovery HD Theater, and NFL HD. This tier is free with DVR service for $7.95/month. I am not familiar with any of these channels and wonder if they are worth the $7.95/month?

Great news for those of you in your locale. I think $7.95 is a fair price given that it is combined with DVR service. HDnet has some of the best PQ available, and while you may get bored of the repeated programming quickly, they are 24-7 HD channels, so whenever you need to impress someone with your HD set, you have something good to display. By comparison, the network affiliates are, for the most part, only HD during primetime.
Be sure to frequently call your cable operator to demand they pick up: HBO-HD, SHO-HD, MAX-HD, TMC-HD, STARZ-HD, ENCORE-HD, UNIVERSAL HD, ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, INHD, INHD2 and TNT-HD... and of course, the local affiliates in HD. These channels are all available now to Adelphia... they just need to decide to purchase and deliver them.
