Just browsing through my channels last night and noticed on channel 1800 they have hd on demand . They only had one movie to pick from though it's nature show about africa with narration by James Earl Jones. I certainly ope they have better offerings than a HD broadcast of a dvd that came out about 8 years ago. Oh well this is just a heads up.

NOTE: Still no official announcement from TWC concerning this service.EDIT: Officially announced on the TWC website 1/21/05. See post below.
I posted this previously after speaking to a TWC employee, but have not verified it through a trial: 1. The DVR's WILL NOT record On Demand events. There is a "copy never" flag sent with the program that will not allow the DVR to record these programs. 2. The DVR's WILL record Pay-Per-View events, but only by manually pressing the record button after the event has started. Therefore, you cannot order a Pay-Per-View event (like boxing or wrestlemania, for example) and schedule a recording with the DVR.

This surprises you? TWC doesn't even notify their own employees of this stuff, let alone anyone else. How long did TWC enable DVI and HDMI and not tell anyone?
I remember when they first rolled out their DVR. I got a thing in the mail stating that if I called, I'd get like the first 3 months free. So I called and the reps had NO clue as to what I was talking about. 2 weeks later I FINALLY got ahold of someone who actually knew what a DVR was and what the "deal" was.
And they want me to use their Voice over IP? (ha!)

Who would pay $5 to see this? If it's only as a test, they should offer a movie like Africa for Free...

I agree. I checked it out last nite and only saw this HD documentary for rent. I'd want the same movies on the regular On Demand, in HD. Otherwise, it's a third of the price of a new DVD for a one time view. It has to be better than than.

If they want to jump start demand they should add a movie people actually want to see.
