Well...When will those lamos on Balltwon Road wake up smell the coffee and give TWC their digital signal? Right now they look silly and cheap...as a life long CD resident I find the current state of Channel SUX to be a sad sight indeed. CHANNEL SUX was a pioneer in broadcasting and couldalways be counted on to employ new leading edge technologies like color tv for local productions, live remote broadcasts and video tape years before other stations stop using film for thier newscasts...but sadly that was another era when GE ruled supreme...now...Channel SUX is owned by "FREEDOM BROADCASTING"...whatever that is...sounds like a Bush campaign slogan to me...at any rate...this once proud and innovative station is now reduced to wall to wall informercials, on air ads selling rental space in their own building and playing financial parchesi with a world wide conglomerate regarding distribution of thier digital signal, in hopes of making what will amount to chump change!!!! I have nothing against the technicians or on air talent at currently working at Channel SUX they are probably nice folks.....its their management that needs a lobotomy, at the very least!!!! There, I'm done venting and I do feel so much better....EVERYBODY BOYCOTT CHANNEL SUX UNTIL THEY PROVIDE A SIGNAL TO TWC !!!!

I'm getting my OTA HD STB fired up right now so I can watch Raymond in HD.
It sure would be easier to record it on my 8000HD DVR and watch it whenever I wanted.
I've stated elsewhere that WRGB looks like the bad guys now that WNYT, WXXA, WMHT, and WTEN all have worked out agreements with Albany TWC.
I say whatever TWC gave WTEN, WNYT, and WXXA should be offered to WRGB and, in turn, WRGB should take it.
WRGB already changed the FAQ section on their webpage since WNYT's HD signal started on TWC. This used to say such things like, "More HD is available OTA than via cable." Sorry, WRGB, not any more.
My contacts at TWC are mum on anything that has to do with WRGB.

Up until 5 months ago, I worked at WRGB.
1. The decision is not in the hands of anyone working in the Capital Region. Freedom Communications (Which is family owned and one of the world's largest newspaper companies... they also have a dozen or so TV stations) has taken that issue out of the GMs realm and is now at the corporate level. It doesn't hurt to e-mail the GM, he is in direct contact with the Head of all Freedom Television.
2. The OTA versions of all the local stations look way better than TWC, TWC is recompressing an already compressed stream. A side by side comparison easily exagerates this point.
3. They're expensive, (But have no monthly fee) HD-OTA DVR's are out there.
4. Yes, at this point, if they don't come to the table and accept what WTEN, WNYT, WMHT and WXXA took, they look silly.

I for one can't recall the last time I actually tuned to channel six to watch something of interest. However, I did take note of TW website FAQ section and see CBS listed as one of their HD offerings. Does this mean that they will soon offer CBS in HD or do they too need to update their website? For now I will have to assume (I know) that it is in negotiations as it appears the new site is from TW corporate as opposed to TW local.

Note the "...depending on the Time Warner Cable area you live in...." comment on the new Albany TWC website: Q: How many high definition stations can I get with Time Warner Cable HDTV? A: The number of high definition stations you can receive depends on the Time Warner Cable area you live in. Depending on the area, Time Warner Cable offers various channels including: ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, WB, UPN, HBO, Showtime and Discovery HD Theater. Some areas offer additional HD packages including movies, sports and events from HD-Net and IN-HD. In addition, we plan to offer more channels in the very near future as they become available.
