with WNYT coming soon (we hope) CBS is the only local left out in the cold. One can only imagine that they will follow suit, soon ?

CBS will be coming. WNYT was holding out for the very same reason as CBS, now it looks like WNYT is "coming soon", so CBS will be here before football season, no doubt in my mind. I know they have had it out with Time Warner, but now CBS HD is all but 4 Time Warner markets, I dont see any reason why the other 4 would not come to an agreement, especially after WMHT and Soon to be WNYT have come on board. Come football season, if they are not on TWC HD, their switchboards will get lit up twice as hard as Superbowl week.

Skaggs, Although Master is entitled to his opinion, even though it created a buzz here, I do not agree with his opinion that CBS will not provide a HD feed eventually. It looks like CBS will be the only major network not on TWC in HD soon and that should be enough pressure in itself and if not, I am sure that angry phone calls and emails from local viewers may get them to change their mind. TNT and WNYT is welcome news, good reason not to make the jump to VOOM, TWC is starting to offer a decent amount of HD channels and making my autopay each month a better value. Just my humble opinion. Kurt

Not so fast there TWC...
None of my many contacts at WNYT have any knowledge of a change in corporate stance with the dispute over full-data-stream carriage. It's not entirely out of the question that a new deal is making headway, but my Spidey-Sense says the definition of "Soon" could be a rather long time in TWC's dictionary.
TWC has also previously stated that WRGB-DT was "Coming Soon." It was a move that then directed a lot of viewer anger at WRGB when the deal never happened. It's interesting to note that if WNYT put out a huge marketing blitz about "Coming Soon in HD on TWC" and then later pointed the finger at TWC as the reason it never happened, TWC would probably bare the brunt of the viewer anger.
Just so you know... TNT is owned by Turner, which is owned by none other than Time Warner. This is why TNT-HD is not charging for their feed. Please don't get me wrong, when I had cable and/or sat I loved TNT, if I had TWC, I would be very excited to soon be receiving TNT-HD.

Master, Your posts certainly have raised the blood pressure of some here, not myself though. That being said you seem to have some insider knowledge as to programming with WRGB and WNYT, where does that insight originate? Now I am not accusing you of flaming here but when you make these comments about knowing it is not going to happen then some have to wonder what you base these posts on. Maybe you could shed some light on where the info comes from, I think inquiring minds would like to know. If I had information about a topic that someone is interested in then I would certainly qualify it with my source. Let us in on your clandestine info?? IMHO, these two major networks and cable provider have to come up with a deal sooner or later. Kurt

Kia303-
I have worked in the broadcast business for 15 years. However, Friday the 16th of April will be my last day. I am starting my own A/V Production Company in Troy.
On March 29th, 2004 I was a panelist on the Consumer Education Panel at the CEA's HDTV Summit in Washington DC. HDnet taped the panel... If they air it, I'm the guy sitting next to Mark Cuban!
I understand that most of the readers on this forum simply want their HD programming regardless of the business issues. However, when it comes to how things really work in this world regarding HD programming... I usually know what I'm talking about.
I will not give away the identity of any of my contacts who choose to give me confidential information soley for the love of HD.

I have been notified by TWC that the channel lineup changes listed in the 1st post in this thread will take place on Tuesday, May 11th between 12AM and 5AM. This includes the addition on TNT HD on channel 1827. The document shown below was included in my TWC bill this month.

Master, Thanks for clearing it up, sounds like you have some good contacts and knowledge of the game. No offense, but I hope you are way off base with your conclusions of no WNYT, ESPN or WRGB HD for TWC. Kurt

Coming Soon means "Coming Soon". I have never seen anything posted anywhere on any my info sent to my home from TWC stating coming soon for WRGB, only the messages that changed from channel 1806. I am glad TWC is adding more HD programming, the more the merrier. At the same time, by them not agreeing to pay more for HD feed, which will intern raise my rates, I am happy with that as well. If I can buy an Antenna and Reciever and get these channels FREE over the Air, why again should I and my local Cable Company have to pay a Fee for this Free over the Air Service?

SONY007- If I buy a ticket to a movie at the cinema, why can't I legally videotape it? The right of who and how content can be distributed is at the discretion of the content's owner... It's the very basis for having copyrights in the first place.
If 6,13 & 45's business stradegy is wrong, then their plans will fail. As a 15 year veteran of the Television Industry (who's last day is tomorrow), My money is betting on TWC paying some form of compensation, not necessarily cash, they already do for the analog signal. The sub-channel carriage issue (like 6-2, 6-3 and 13-2) is also a huge sticking point and will need to be resolved.
Your cable bill will go up no matter what. That's a promise.

MasterFX1-
Yes, I am sad to admit too that I to know that sooner of later, the rates will go up for HD. The Market is going to get so big, its just irrelavent. I can not imagine what ESPN is asking for, with them being available for so long, and no being available in our area.
