Anyone with the new SA8300HDC box? Do you like it? Any pros or cons???
I was informed TW High Bridge (Rotterdam) had a limited quantity but all gone now.

i have it
its ok... but they had a heck of a time getting it to sinkup with the mother ship
all in all i notice no difference what so ever to the straight 8300

I posted this in the "Current SARA software version for 8300 HD DVR" thread back in July before I realized it was the 8300 HDC: "I have 1.09.5a101 on a new box that I got in exchange for one that worked fine for 2 years  The diagnostics screen is now up to 55 pages due to CableCard. I'm a bit puzzled with the navigation. Multiple taps on FWD or REW go all the way to the beginning or the end, unlike the 1.89 versions. Anybody else having this problem? I've also noticed a lot of spontaneous reboots and signals so weak that my projector (component cable hook-up) sometimes can't even find the signal  " It's SARA, not Navigator, and I don't like it. The REPLAY button is worse than useless, FWD and REW have minds of their won (see above), the box frequently doesn't record programs, and it seems to do strange things most nights around 11:00 PM. I blame the SARA software. The box itself works fine, and is extremely quiet. If it wasn't for the Yankees on YesNetwork, I'd trash this and go to a satellite dish. |

I was watching the yankees on YES last night on my DirecTV receiver.
The game was even available again in HD. They must have fixed the problems in the YESHD distribution center or switched to an alternate site.

I was willing to try it if it had the navigator software...I don't like the SARA software....that is why I turned in my two 8300HD DVR's for cablecards on two Sony DHG-HDD500's and just live with the TV Guide software which is not much better but works the same for less money for now...

OK, they updated the software to 1.90.5a106, and it seems pretty good (I have replay back!!!, and the change from 720p to 1080i is instantaneous, quite unlike the 5-second lag it used to have), but I still have a problem that's not limited to the software version. I've had strange problems between 10:00 to 11:30 PM every night. "Weeds" just blacked out in the middle of the show tonight, as it has every d**n week. I couldn't get it back until I erased the recording. I've heard similar stories from other friends who have the 8300HD (not the 8300HDC I have). I've also had problems recording the Daily Show. WTF is TW doing?  |
