Microsoft Cuts XBox HD DVD Player Price
The price goes from $199 to $179.

By Phillip Swann, tvpredictions.com Microsoft today announced that it's lowering the price of the XBox 360 HD DVD player from $199 to $179.
The price cut will be effective August 1, 2007.
Microsoft is also adding five free HD DVD movies with the purchase of a XBox 360 HD DVD player between August 1 and September 30.
Toshiba has made the same "five free" offer with the purchase of a Toshiba HD DVD player.
With the price cut, the XBox 360 console and HD DVD player is now priced at roughly $580 combined.
The XBox 360 HD DVD player is an adapter that connects to an existing XBox 360 video game console. Sony's PlayStation 3 has a Blu-ray player inside the console.
In related news, Microsoft said XBox Live, the company's movie and game download service, will offer the mythic war film 300 on demand in high-def starting August 14. Plus, XBox Live members will be able to download for free the pilot episode of NBC's Heroes in HD.
Microsoft said Heroes for free will be available for a limited time.
