Buffer Problem

TW flashed an update last week to the 8300HD that created a bigger problem than the one they were trying to solve. The screen frequently goes black when you hit pause. No rewind, no resume. TW is aware of the problem with the live buffer. I also told them that the same problem exists with the second tuner buffer. TW wasn't aware of that, but they'll be looking into it.

Basically, my DVR is not functioning as a DVR. The only apparent workaround at the moment is to record what you're watching. Otherwise, if you pause it, you lose it.

I checked this afternoon and I still have SARA version 1.89.17.1.

This is the same version we received on 1/24/07.

While watching live TV via my 8300HD DVR, I have no problem pausing and then playing. No noticeable problems that I can see.

Both myself and my father are experiencing this problem on two different DVR's (8000 and 8300). When I called TW they said none of them were aware of the problem, and scheduled an onsite visit for next Saturday. I am going to call back to point out that it must be this live buffer problem.

Noticed the problem for the first time Sunday; then again tonight. It took a while to show itself. Hit Rewind near the start of a program and it worked fine. Tried it again near the end of the same hour program and the screen went black. Play, Pause, Rew, FF, Live buttons did not bring the picture back. Only switching to another channel and back restored a picture.

It looks like they fixed the problem, but now there's some occasional video noise.

According to the TW tech rep I spoke to, they're just applying the patches supplied by Scientific Atlanta.
