I'm looking to free up a component input for my Wii, which preferably means using the HDMI output on my 8300 (or buying a VGA adapter for my 360). I just tried it, though, and while I get audio through my set, I get an error about an incompatible video signal. This is with a Sharp 37'' LCD.
Any ideas? I tried every option in the set and got nothing.

A major chain has just read the riot act to its suppliers. Next year all hardware with HDMI must have a certificate of compatibility from HDMI, LLC or it will not be stocked. This should have been done three years ago.
I believe TW has a software issue that it will have to resolve. Till then TW tells us that while it offeres DVI and HDMI it does not support those outputs and only supports component , S-Video and composite at this time. It worked to perfection with my new Sony. The non-DVR model had a brief handshake issue but after a brief time it would work with that set also.

I tried connecting my Samsung HLR4667W HDTV to my SA8300HD DVR and to my DirecTV HR10-250 HD DVR. With either of those connections, everything was fine for about a week and then I lost either the picture or the sound.
Since I also have a Sony DVD player and needed to connect all three devices to component inputs on my TV, which only has two component inputs, I got a component matrix switcher from Video Storm. This way the matrix switcher switches to the correct input when a box is powered on.
However, I think that the HDMI problems are not in my HDTV, since I have been using a Tivo S3 connected by HDMI for over a month.
