AT&T U-verse one step closer to high-def with Version 1.1 update October 10, 2006 By Matt Burns, HD Beat Magazine We knew the Version 1.1 update was approaching and sure 'nough, it was uploaded into AT&T U-verse boxes last night. The long awaited update provided users with a slick new GUI, options for the channel guide, CC, guide-based recording, multi-stream support and last, but not least, high definition -- kind of. The support is there and subscribers can even see the little HD logo beside the appropriate high-def program but the current set-top box doesn't support 720p/1080i output. We hope for the sake of U-verse subscribers everywhere that AT&T will not miss the speculated October 25 release date of the HD Motorola VIP 1216 ( www.uverseusers.com/article.php/exclusive-hd-and-motorola-stb-rollout). Can't you image the pain and agony of seeing what's on in high definition but not being able to watch it? Honestly though, U-verse users will probably be too busy playing with all the new bells and whistles that were added in this update to tide 'em over till the new boxes are available.
