I'm looking into buying a JVC D-VHS deck and I wanted to know if the firewire ports are activated on the 8300HD DVR box from TWC. Thanks

From what I've read on AVS, TWC has to make a STB available with firewire ports according to FCC rules. I believe TWC has a 3250 box with firewire ports active, but you have to ask for it. You should call and ask them about it. Keep asking for a supervisor, because more than likely the 1st rep you speak to will have no idea.  |

If you are refering to the SATA port on the back of the DVR then the answer is yes. I have a 300GB Maxtor QuickView QVX Expander SATA hard drive connected and it works great giving me around 90 Hours of HD recording capacity.

Except the 3250 is not a DVR box. Correct. TWC is FCC compliant and they don't have to worry about customers attempting to copy recorded content. |
