I'm looking into buying a JVC D-VHS deck and I wanted to know if the firewire ports are activated on the 8300HD DVR box from TWC. Thanks

From what I've read on AVS, TWC has to make a STB available with firewire ports according to FCC rules. I believe TWC has a 3250 box with firewire ports active, but you have to ask for it. You should call and ask them about it. Keep asking for a supervisor, because more than likely the 1st rep you speak to will have no idea.

If you are refering to the SATA port on the back of the DVR then the answer is yes. I have a 300GB Maxtor QuickView QVX Expander SATA hard drive connected and it works great giving me around 90 Hours of HD recording capacity.

Except the 3250 is not a DVR box. Correct. TWC is FCC compliant and they don't have to worry about customers attempting to copy recorded content.
