Hello all.Was wondering if anyone out there is seeing a problem with the SA cableboxes leaving varying amounts of black screen(mostly left side) on there displays.Channels I see as the worst are CH34 Disney and 33 Nick. This only seems to be happening when on a analogue channel and the box is set to strech. We have seen this in varying amounts on Fujitsu plasmas,Mitsubishi plasmas,Mitsubishi DPL and the JVC 56" 1080p set. If anyone has any feedback on this i realy appreciate your findings.
Thanks

Yes, I have it happen with my new Plasma (Toshiba).
I have an SA 3000 (NON HD) cable box using S-video.
It's real bad on channels 8 and 10.
I have not noticed it on the "digital" channels, but ALWAYS on channel 8 and 10 (I've not checked the other locals).
On the 42" widescreen Toshiba Plasma, it's almost like it doesn't line up the left-hand side. I get a slight "bright" line where the picture DOES start (almost like it takes the first 1/4" of the left-side and smooshes it to that one bright line).
If I set the Toshiba to be "4:3" (normal mode I think they call it), then of course, I don't notice anything.
It does NOT do this on DVD or any other input that I can tell. Nor have I noticed it on ANY "digital" channel.
I thought it was maybe the TV, but since it only happens on certain channels, I'm thinking it's TW Cable or the SA converter box.
My 55" Mits. downstairs has an SA 8300 HD DVR, and I only watch HD on it, so I can't really say if it has the same problem.

I was able to reproduce channel 33 and 34 for you in addition to channels 8 and 10.
I'm 99% sure it's not the TV because:
1) It's ONLY those 4 channels (that I'm currently aware of) 2) The "guide" at the bottom of the screen DOES fill the screen correctly, but the picture is "indented" by about 1/4" causing an overscan line on the left-hand side.
The bad part is that I'm afraid this could actually burn in the plasma (or anything other than LCD) if you watch a lot of those channels.
Anyone else out there able to duplicate this?

I guess nobody's interested, but I did some further testing.
I actually can reproduce this on channels 8, 9, 10, 33 and 34
As an interesting test, I'm going to record channel 8 on my Tivo upstairs (no cable box, just basic cable).
I will then transfer this recording to my other Tivo (with the widescreen) and see what it does.
In theory, if it doesn't show the symptoms, then it's probably something to do with the cable box.
If it DOES, then I'm wondering if it's the TV or the channel itself (then I'll have to test on my Mits, once I dig up the manual to change the screen format)

Well, looks like TW did one step forward and another back.
The overscan is corrected on the channels I did observe it on (6, 8, 10, etc).
However, NOW there's an overscan (a lovely 1/2" "brighter" light on the left-hand side) on channels 113 (NGC), Food TV, TLC, TBS and more.
I'm probably going to have to drop TW if this keeps up or else it'll burn in my plasma display.
