I'm no longer on the 8300HD bandwagon and here's why and please take into account that I'm a HIGH DEFINITION aficionado. So this wont apply to those who view alot of analog/SD tv and are content with the HD PQ they currently receive:
1 - The PQ with cablecard is MUCH better than with the 8300HD 2 - The software and HD recordings leave alot to be desired. 3 - The fees: The TW fee for the DVR rental is $7.95 plus $9.95 a month DVR fee for the privilege of recording. Thats $17.90 a month or $214.80 a year. Oh yes, and if you subscribe to a premium service (which may have 1 HD channel) you get the DVR Fee cut in half.
Thats $17.90 a month for a DVR that operates just like a brain dead VCR because the software is not that bright. But what are my choices?
A Sony DHG-HDD500 with cablecard BUT WITHOUT ANY RCA INPUTS!!! AND YOU CAN'T TUNE IN 4 DIGIT CHANNEL NUMBERS!!! WAKE UP SONY!!! knock, knock anyone with a brain?
Ahhh....tivo....good old tivo...WHERE IS MY HD TIVO?
So you see...the choices are meager...that is why I'm considering Dish Network and their HD channel offerings...anyone home TW? are you listening?
Please note: I didn't include franchise, city, state and federal taxes on that $17.90!
okay...I exhaled...breathing easier...back to normal blood pressure...Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon just finished...and I'm off looking for more HD news...cya.
