I got the 8300 DVR box today, and set it up, essentially replacing the HD cable box that was there. It seems that the image isn't as cohesive, for lack of a better word. I was very familiar with the images on the channels I watch, and this one seems grainer, darker and has a greater amount of color. I had to drop the color on my Mitsubishi 55613 to about 22. The other box was crystial clear with no digital grain or edge. I went through the converter setup that I don't remember doing on my previous box, and it didn't seem to have any effect. Anyone notice what I am talking about? Could I have a defective box? Seems to function fine. I am connected via component vid, not HDMi Bob

I find that the DVR's do not give as good a quality picture as the 3250HD box. What you trade for the slight degradation in PQ is the ability to record HD programming + PIP.

Yea, but it was too much for me. I returned it today. I really was only trying it, since my 2 Mits S-VHS vcr's have died after 13 years. I need something to record Smallville and S.N.L. and the occasional wife show. Not much else. I'll go buy a cheapo SVHS to tie me over for a year. They are under $100 now. Mine were $1200 when new!!! Funny thing is that this time, the person behind the counter at Time Warner was rude as hell, bordering on beligerant. Can't they spend 1/2 a day training these sour pusses? She could hardly work the computer, and because I was returning it for a reason that wasn't probably on a check box on her screen, she didn't know what to do. I bet any amount I am still charged for this service, and will have to fight it out. Monopolys in action. Bob

Troy office near the water plant. Recipt is here in my wallet, as I expect some grief on the next months bill. Operator was KS0171019 recipt # 1426998. I'll try again in a month, after they may have either gotten new ones or updated the software. I'll check to see who is working as well, as dealing with the person there was so unpleasant. Really, for $120 a month, and nary a service question, issue or cost in 10 years, you'd think something simple like exhangeing a box woulnd't be so tough? Funny too, as I saw in another thread someone else describe this treatment from what sounded like the same person. It's like she goes out of her way to abuse the customers.

I returned my 8000HD for the 3250HD and you're right on HDTV (Toshiba 57H93) the HD picture now just looks well for lack of a better word w o n d e r fu l. Much better than on the DVR. Now I'm thinking of buying a DVR to record off the rca outputs. I know, no HD on the rca outputs but heck, the picture quality using the 3250HD is well worth it, wasn't that why we purchased HDTV's sets for? Picture quality...

New Member here with a question, I currently watch HDTV with a dvico fusion II card on my pc , but am looking to buy a real HDTV but I hate TWC DVR's , can you tell me if they've fixed the problem where you set up a record event for like NYPD Blue and instead of getting just tuesday nites on ABC you get all the old repeats on courttv, and tnt? that was real annoying. It was either record 1 NYPD or set up a ALL NYPD (including repeats). Thanks in advance for your help..

It was either record 1 NYPD or set up a ALL NYPD (including repeats). Thanks in advance for your help.. If you go to the guide, choose your program, and press record, a menu pops up that will ask you if you want "one episode" or "all episodes". Once you press "A" to accept the recording, another menu pops up that asks you if you want: "All episodes on this channel in this time slot" or "All episodes on this channel at any time". This is an improvement over the original DVR software, which did not have the 2nd menu. Without that 2nd menu, the DVR did as you describe on your post...record the show on all channels. What is still lacking with the current software is for the DVR to be "TiVo-like" and know if the program is a repeat. With a TiVo, you can tell it to record "First run only", "Repeats and First run", or "All episodes".
