I'm actually using an all DVI cable I got on ebay and a DVI-HDMI adapter I got from towne tv in rotterdam. The DVI cable never worked on my 8000 box, but it worked for 3 or 4 months on my parents 3250, so I know that it works. And the guy at towne tv confirmed that the adapter he sold me has worked for other people with different tv's. I think it's just a communication issue with the input on our tv. Hopefully TWC comes up with some sort of fix.

I have a toshiba 57h93 with DVI-D input and the 8300HD. I also have the same black screen when using the HDMI to DVI monster cable. So I bet it isn't your cable. According to Mike at TWC I have to return my 8300HD and get another one (some have active HDMI ports and in others it isn't working). This is my 2nd unit with a non-active HDMI port.

It's funny. About a month ago, my HDMI port wasn't working correctly, but now it's working great! It's like a crapshoot.

Mine's the opposite...Around Christmas 2004, my HDMI - DVI connection was working great, and now it is not. That leads me to believe it is not my Toshiba, since both OldMatador and I have had it working. By the way, the new Toshiba's don't have DVI inputs, only HDMI.

I knew it wasn't my DVI port on the TV because I had the DVI working on my 8000HD box. I was wwaiting for the HDMI port to be officially activated, but on a hunch, I tried it. It worked!

Coincidentally, I tried it again last night, but it didn't work.

Okay, I gave up. I tried 4 different 8300HD's without success. The HDMI port wasn't working, I'm back on component video on my toshiba with the 8300HD and I hooked up my panasonic dvd player (s97s) with HDMI output to the toshiba DVI input and thats working. That was the same monster cable I was using with the 8300HD.
