Can you share with us what model STB you are using? People experience different levels of satisfaction with DVI depending on what box they have.

Assuming you have TWC, you need to request the 3250HD box. It is the only TWC cable box that has an active DVI port. The 8000HD DVR has a DVI port, but TWC claims it is not active. The 8300HD DVR has a HDMI port, but TWC claims it is not active. For more info on HDMI, see www.hdmi.org.

I finally dragged myself over here from avsforum. The 8000HD DVI has been enabled for a while. I have been using it for at least a month, maybe more. Not sure about the 8300HD.

I have a Hitachi 50v500 TV. It has a dvi port on the back. When I hook up my 8000hd to the tv using a dvi cable, I get a message that the tv does not support HDCP. What am I doing wrong?

I get the same message. It seems that when the SA8000 starts it fails the HDCP test. But... as soon as you change channels it works. So I always turn on the cable box, see the HDCP message, and immediate hit channel up/down and everything is OK. At least that is what I'm seeing on my setup (SA8000HD to a BenQ 8700+)

Mike at Time Warner Cable is an expert on this stuff. He has the knowledge to walk you through the troubleshooting. If you call TWC and get the typical Customer Service Rep, ask to speak to Mike.
If he doesn't immediately have the answer for you, he will call you back or send an email with the answer.

Ken, You're right. when I change the channel the message is gone. However, the picture I get is poor. The colors are mainly pink and blue . Is there an adjustment that I'm missing?

I'm not too clued in on diagnosing DVI issues. If the colors are a little bit off then it could simply be that your TV's DVI input has different settings from your TV's Component input and you need to adjust them. That is pretty common. If the color is way off (like when one channel of a component connection is missing) then I have no clue. I did notice different colors between DVI and Comp but it was a minor difference. I just had to make minor changes to make the picture look its best. Otherwise the picture looked near perfect as soon as I switched to DVI.

I have a 8000hd box, and I get that message when using my DVI connection too. You are saying that all I do is change the channel really fast on the cable box,and it should start working??? I didn't think the dvi port was active on the 8000hd box?

I didn't think the dvi port was active on the 8000hd box? TWC confirmed that the DVI port is working on the 8000HD DVR.

Me too Skaggs, we have the same tv, all you get is black right? Yep, all I get is black. I'm waiting on an email from Mike at TWC. He was supposed to talk to the engineering dept. and get back to me. On Tuesday, he said he isn't working again until this weekend. I thought it may be the cable, but if you are having the same problem, it must be an issue of the 8300 and our 57H83 not "talking" to each other properly. Where did you get your HDMI to DVI cable?
