I agree. I checked it out last nite and only saw this HD documentary for rent. I'd want the same movies on the regular On Demand, in HD. Otherwise, it's a third of the price of a new DVD for a one time view. It has to be better than than.

Thanks for the link. It's always a few channels. I was hoping for WB and UPN in HD, but maybe next year.

Each year it seems some channels pop on with the required price increase. I noticed a channel 103 today, in the kids block, which is some sort of kids game show channel it seems. No descriptions yet. Are there any other channels that have appeared? Or going to appear?

WRGB in my opinion. Simply get over it. Rebroadcasting HDTV is not an Added Value service. Swallow the expense. I wonder if when Color came into play 50 years ago would the average household paid more to watch in color than black and white? Doubtfull...

I got stiffed after I ordered it from the Tweeter site. They sent an email saying they couldn't fill the order. So I'm S.O.L. I guess. I emailed them back asking for a sub, but I doubt it will go anywhere. I'll just have to recoup my loss by bad mouthing them on any forum I can I guess ; )

It must be a clearance item, but either way, it will be fine for me. I'm replacing a 12 year old S-VHS unit. I ordered it online from them, and will be happy if they fill the order and it arrives.

Troy office near the water plant. Recipt is here in my wallet, as I expect some grief on the next months bill. Operator was KS0171019 recipt # 1426998. I'll try again in a month, after they may have either gotten new ones or updated the software. I'll check to see who is working as well, as dealing with the person there was so unpleasant. Really, for $120 a month, and nary a service question, issue or cost in 10 years, you'd think something simple like exhangeing a box woulnd't be so tough? Funny too, as I saw in another thread someone else describe this treatment from what sounded like the same person. It's like she goes out of her way to abuse the customers.

Yea, but it was too much for me. I returned it today. I really was only trying it, since my 2 Mits S-VHS vcr's have died after 13 years. I need something to record Smallville and S.N.L. and the occasional wife show. Not much else. I'll go buy a cheapo SVHS to tie me over for a year. They are under $100 now. Mine were $1200 when new!!! Funny thing is that this time, the person behind the counter at Time Warner was rude as hell, bordering on beligerant. Can't they spend 1/2 a day training these sour pusses? She could hardly work the computer, and because I was returning it for a reason that wasn't probably on a check box on her screen, she didn't know what to do. I bet any amount I am still charged for this service, and will have to fight it out. Monopolys in action. Bob

I got the 8300 DVR box today, and set it up, essentially replacing the HD cable box that was there. It seems that the image isn't as cohesive, for lack of a better word. I was very familiar with the images on the channels I watch, and this one seems grainer, darker and has a greater amount of color. I had to drop the color on my Mitsubishi 55613 to about 22. The other box was crystial clear with no digital grain or edge. I went through the converter setup that I don't remember doing on my previous box, and it didn't seem to have any effect. Anyone notice what I am talking about? Could I have a defective box? Seems to function fine. I am connected via component vid, not HDMi Bob

As mentioned before in this thread, the 8300 has some performance issues. While an HD DVR is great, the less than HD picture you have to watch isn't. This type of thing is probably a few years away from actually working AND being cheap enough to be part of a cable box.
Bob, likes his HD image. Won't settle for less.

Is there any way to disable this annoying message? I hate having it pop up every time I change the channel.

Sure, make it simple enough for stupid people who can't be bothered to read. It's simple enough as it is. Just because the average idiot wants a console TV with a channel knob, doesn't mean he should get one. Learn how the modern world behaves.

I'd be offended to have to pay for the INSP, The New Inspirational Network channel. It's as destructive as any porn or violence channel in my opinion. And if I were Jewish, Muslim or whatever, I'd really question my contribution to such programming.

I personally voulenteer to pay anyone's cable bill for a year if they actually end up playing less with somewhat comparable service. You will pay more for some channels, less for others, and it will either be the same or more.
