We're getting some Olympics HD channels on TWC, though based on the assignments, IDK if they will last past the Olympics. 1701, 1702, 1703, 1704. Source: www.timewarnercable.com/Albany/olympics/default.htmlCheck out the bar on the right side. Edit: people in other areas are reporting there local TWC is saying these wont start till the 8th, so probably the 8th for us too.

I really hope we keep USA HD. That's one I've wanted for awhile.

Anyone else having problems switching between channels? I'm especially seeing it between USAHD and CNBCHD. The audio is there but its just a black screen for a while, maybe up to 10 seconds on CNBC and I still haven't been able to get a picture at all with USAHD.

When I first tuned to 1702 with my 8300HD DVR, I had audio, but no picture. I let it stay on the channel for about 20 seconds and the video appeared.
Interestingly, not all of TWC's Olympic channels are SDV:
1700 NBC HD NOT switched (Broadcast) 1701 USA HD Switched (SDV) 1702 CNBC HD Switched (SDV) 1703 Olympic Soccer Channel NOT switched (Broadcast) 1704 Olympic Basketball Channel NOT switched (Broadcast) 1705 Universal HD Switched (SDV)

Now I can't tune 1701-1704. I only get 1700 and 1705 which is useless because those channels already air in the 1800s.
All I'm getting is a black screen and no sound. This is really frustrating.
EDIT: I just left it on 1702 for 45 minutes and it finally came on. Interesting.

Maybe TWC temporarily turned off the SDV?

Odd because I can get 1701 on my TivoHD. Maybe TWC temporarily turned off the SDV? Not me. 1701 on my TiVo HD shows the CHANNEL NOT AVAILABLE message on the screen. I rechecked 1701 on the diagnostic menu of the 8300HD DVR and it still says "switched".

All channels are working fine for me today on both my 8300HD and 8300HDC.
Hopefully we get to keep both USA HD and CNBC HD after the Olympics are over.

Hello, I talked to Time Warner yesterday to cancel my Road Runner and asked about HD USA. The rep told me they have not made the decision yet as to whether or not they are going to keep it once the olympics are over... Might just be a standard response from them too, not sure.

Apparently, TWC (and other cable ops) was forced by NBC-Universal to add the temp channels in order for their subscribers to be able to watch the streaming video at NBC's Olympic site.

Well that makes sense, no need to give the people something for nothing. That's always the story with these guys these days it seems.

I had to call TW today so figured I'd ask. The official company line is that these channels are "temporary for the Olympics only." They then spewed the company line that these, like all their HD channels, are free. Of course you can't pick them up without having at least what, the digital channel lineup? They're switched (SDV) right, so you need a box to see them, no cable card users need apply, right?

I watched a little last night. The pixelation during the syncronized diving was terrible.
