Amazon is following the other major retailers who have given customers HD DVD credits. They're e-mailing promo codes worth $50 to people who bought HD DVD players (including the Xbox HD add-on) at the site prior to Feb. 23. I got the e-mail today, for the player I bought in October.
So if you bought an HD DVD player from Amazon, check your e-mail.
Here's the full text of the e-mail:

I've been wondering if Amazon would do anything (that's where I picked up my Toshiba HD A-30 right after Christmas). Haven't seen this email yet, though.

I'd recommend calling their customer service number. People on another board who didn't get the e-mail with the credit called and got the CSRs to give them the credit. There were no restrictions on the offer (other than buying it before the listed date, which I'm sure you did) so there's no reason why you shouldn't have gotten it.
Amazon's CS is usually good. I'm sure they'll give you the credit.
