EchoStar Adds 2 Regional Sports Nets In HD

The satcaster now has nine regional sports channels in high-def.
By Phillip Swann, tvpredictions.com EchoStar's Dish Network has launched two new regional sports channels in High-Definition TV.
They are: Sun Sports (DISH Network Ch. 372) that offers Florida viewers professional games and events in HD, and SportSouth (Ch. 381), which broadcasts sporting events in the Southern region.
EchoStar now carries the high-def signals for nine regional sports channels. Last month, the satcaster added:
Fox Sports Network Florida (Ch. 373) Fox Sports Network Midwest (Ch. 368) Fox Sports Network West (Ch. 367) Fox Sports Network Prime Ticket (Ch. 361) Fox Sports Network Rocky Mountain (Ch. 364) Fox Sports Network South (Ch. 370) Fox Sports Network Southwest (Ch. 366)
"DISH Network now has an extensive lineup of HD Regional Sports Networks, giving avid sports fans in select regions professional baseball, football, basketball games and more in High Definition," said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of programming for DISH Network.
EchoStar said it will likely add more regional sports channels in high-def this year, referring to SportsNet New York and Altitude.
The satcaster also solidified its position as the leading carrier of national High-Definition channels yesterday by adding Cinemax HD.
