By Phillip Swann, tvpredictions.com DIRECTV has added local High-Definition channels in four new markets, bringing its total to 57.
The new markets are: Albuquerque, Buffalo, New Orleans and Tulsa.
DIRECTV now offers local HD broadcast channels in 57 cities, representing more than 69 percent of U.S. TV households.
Last week, DIRECTV announced that Greenville, South Carolina, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jacksonville, Florida and Spokane, Washington, were also getting their local channels in high-def.
The rollout of local HD is part of DIRECTV's plan to expand high-def service and programming over the next year. The satcaster says it will offer 100 national high-def channels by year's end and local HD in 75 markets.
