EchoStar's Dish Network has launched seven regional sports channels in High-Definition.
The channels broadcast the games of local college and professional sports teams.
The seven Regional Sports Networks added today in high-def are:
Fox Sports Network Florida HD (Ch. 373) Fox Sports Network Midwest HD (Ch. 368) Fox Sports Network West HD (Ch. 367) Fox Sports Network Prime Ticket HD (Ch. 361) Fox Sports Network Rocky Mountain HD (Ch. 364) Fox Sports Network South HD (Ch. 370) Fox Sports Network Southwest HD (Ch. 366)
“Sports fans have been driving the HD movement for quite some time now so naturally we’re excited to offer regional coverage of games and sporting events in this amazing and graphic picture quality,” said Eric Sahl, Dish Network's senior vice president of programming.
EchoStar said it will add more high-def versions of the regional sports channels later this year, including Sun Sports, Altitude and Sport South which will be added sometime this spring.
Most professional sports that air on the regional sports channels can only be seen in those markets. Blackout rules apply as well.
