SportsNet New York Safe at Dish
April 6, 2006
Multichannel News Release
Dish Network subscribers didn’t miss Pedro Martinez’s first start of the season.
EchoStar Communications Corp. reached an agreement to launch SportsNet New York Thursday, leaving Patriot Media and Communications LLC, a cable operator in New Jersey, as the sole New York-area holdout.
SNY is partly owned by Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Cable and, in addition to those two MSOs, it already had deals with DirecTV Inc., Cablevision Systems Corp., RCN Corp. and Verizon Communications Inc.
The new regional sports network features Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and programming related to the National Football League’s New York Jets.
SNY is available to Dish subscribers with the “America's Top 60+,” “DishHD Silver” or higher programming packages.
The network will air 125 regular-season Mets games.
