Actually I'm still confused so I'll ask it plainly. Are the HD versions of those channels going live tonight?

Actually I just thought he said the channels would be switching to SDV. I didn't see that he stated that those were the HD versions of those channels. Although they may very well be. I will have to check my digital box.

What you guys aren't understanding is the SDV channels ARE the HD channels.

What you guys aren't understanding is the SDV channels ARE the HD channels. Not all SDV channels are HD channels. Channel 1 is a perfect example. It is SDV and definitely not HD.

Sorry for the confusion, I was answering mjbanks post, they are the HD channels as reported to me by a tw rep. On another note, I was at TW Highbridge in Schenectady picking up an Explorer 8300HD to view the new SDV channels...after getting home and doing the setup to my home theater....the STB was DOA, I will have to wait until Monday to exchange. PS: You would think they test these things before giving them out...

i have to say, that "Local on the 8s" on the Weather Channel looks very nice ;D
Well, nice to see...Id still like to see FSN-NY HD, but beggars cant be choosers. Nice to see TW has at least closed the gap slightly between itself and Directv.

Unfortunately it looks like History HD is just upconverted. You can tell because every single commercial fills the screen and the Best Buy commercials (which are always in HD) have black bars at the top and bottom.

Looks like FoodTVHD is also upconverted as I just saw a public service ad fill the whole screen.
Also, The Weather Channel HD doesn't look very good at all. I was just watching Epic Conditions in HD and it was about white water rafting, a bunch of times when the camera went underwater the whole screen was badly pixelated, much more than you'd normally see in high motion at 1080i.
I also noticed tonight while watching the Rangers on MSGHD that the picture quality looked lower. I'm happy about the new channels but I'm not thrilled that it means reduced picture quality across the board.

Outdoor HD has a NOT AVAILABLE screen displayed, just like NHL HD.
You must have to subscribe to the Sports Tier?
