I think TWC is simulcasting channels 6, 8, 10 & 13 in analog/digital based on the strange behavior that my cablecard TV is experiencing. When tuning channel 6, I get two channels, one "D6" and the other just "6". Same behavior with the other channels...

Looks like more than that! I have seen a dramatic change in PQ on at least 10 of my lower channels over this past weekend. After looking into my Sony diagnostics I see it is tunning them digitally.

I've updated my post. It looks like TWC is about to simultcast the whole basic/standard tier in digital. Some channels are still analog but those are few.

As of 2pm today, all the digital simulcast channels in the basic/standard tier are gone. They are all back to analog.

My TiVo had a message today stating:
I think this might be related to the digital / analog switch-a-roonie TWC has been playing.

I think so too.
My JVC TV with a cablecard help's me identify when a channel goes from analog to digital by presenting me with both. I've been deleting the analog in favor of the digital so when I switch channels I don't go thru both. Guess what I'm doing now? Re-scanning for the analogs that I deleted!!!
Sometimes I think the genius program engineers at TWC just don't get the ramifications of problems they create thruout the cable system on things they do.

This reversion back to analog-only happened in Schenectady at the beginning of the week.
I spoke to a TW rep during the Olympics because their piecemeal conversion, and accompanying wide disparities in volume between digital and analog, were driving me crazy, and also because the analog signal level was disturbingly low, sometimes < -10 dB, resulting in lousy picture quality. I was told that they had suspended conversion during the Olympics (good thing) and that it would take several months once they resumed. I called again last Saturday to complain about the extreme volume of their own TW commercials pushing movies-on-demand, etc. First I was told to simply turn down the volume, then I was told that my TV must be too old because it didn't limit the volume of their commercials. I had enough of that and talked to a supervisor, who finally admitted that it was their problem. It's not happening on the channels that reverted to analog, but I heard an extreme volume blast this morning on a TW commercial on CapitalNews9.
We're probably going to have to put up with this for a while.
