TiVo
Our good friend Thomas Hawk listened in on TiVo’s quarterly conference call yesterday and reports back with all the juicy details. Chairman and soon-to-be ex-CEO Mike Ramsay talks up all the usual stuff, like how they’re really, really trying to get to profitability this year, and how they’re going to keep pushing their plan to deliver some sort of broadband video-on-demand service, but what totally intrigues us is the news that they’re coming out with a “TiVo-branded experience” for the PC. This will hopefully will be that standalone TiVo app for the PC we’ve been begging them to do for ages. Other nuggets: they’re working on developing TiVoToGo support for Portable Media Centers (which Bill Gates brought up during his keynote at CES), and Humax is planning a TV with TiVo built-in.
