Just checked on the Verizon FIOS website to get some idea about FIOS TV bundle prices. The site checked availability in Delmar and said that the triple play bundle IS AVAILABLE - and can be ordered now!!! Should I???

I just ordered it. The installation date is Monday, March 28th. I ordered FiOS Ultimate (I didn't want to take a slower Internet rate than what I have now) with the multiroom DVR, two addition STBs and a cable card.

I'm set for next Thursday!!! (They could have done it on Tuesday, but I wasn't available)
Do we have any sense as to the amount of compression Fios uses as compared to TWC?

All of the reports that I have read online say that Verizon does not apply any additional compression to the HDTV channels. I don't know if that is the current status, but we'll know soon enough.

Our first impressions are that the pix is MUCH better. Even the SD is improved -- almost looks like HD. My wifo usually doesn't pay much attention to such matters, but her first reaction was that the picture was much clearer.
BTW, the installer brought up a great HD aquarium -- but I can't find it again -- any leads??

The Ambient channel has some nice video on it, the Society as Art II is interesting if you want to look at the world through a different perspective. I hope you are enjoying your FiOS products.

I'm up at 4am because I work midnights. I did a lot of work for this roll out and I want to know what people think and help if at all possible.

Installation was very good. The installer had only done a couple before, but he went out of his way to be sure everything worked as it should. We are very happy with FiOS TV and will urge our friends to sign up. Sorry about the shift you are on :-)

I have been very impressed. The install went very smoothly. I was able to hook my router the Verizon supplied router and networking is pretty much the way I want it. The MR DVR and STBs came online fairly quickly. Installing the Cablecard into my TiVo was a piece of cake. I have the FiOS Mobile app for the iPad, it is an easy way to program shows on DVR. It's much faster to remotely program the FiOS DVR than it is for my TiVo. The TiVo still beats the FiOS DVR for usability, but I'm impressed with the FiOS DVR.
There were a few glitches, but they were resolved very quickly. The installer was in and out in about 3 hours.
The biggest downsides are the loss of the local sports from the Time Warner stations and BBC America is only available as standard def, no BBC HD. It would be nice to program the DVR from a STB, but it's easier to do it from the iPad.
