An updated version of Navigator was downloaded to my 8300HDC yesterday morning. (ver. 3.2 something) Among other things, it resolves the problem that caused the audio-out selection to revert to HDMI, rather than Dolby 5.1, each time I power cycled the TV. The box now maintains the Dolby 5.1 setting with each power-up. There are other changes which are described in an email Time Warner has sent to subscribers. Back again is the option of recording all occurrences of a program on a specific channel at any time. However, Navigator does seem to respond more slowly than before! As a precaution, I did reboot the box, but there was no change in response speed. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have the Cisco HDC box and noticed a fix as well....
I was having trouble maintaining output resolution after powering down. I have it set for 1080i only and it would switch to 480p when powered down and remained when powering back up. Would have to tune to an HD channel to get resolution to switch to 1080i.
The update seemed to have fixed that issue as well...it has remained at 1080i.

Utica/Rome/Syracuse has started getting Navigator version 3.1.22
Can anyone confirm what version(s) the Albany area is running and on which set top(s)?
Thanks.

Just wanted to let members know that I have successfully transplanted a 1TB drive into a recently acquired 8640HDC. It came with a WD Caviar Blue 320GB, but since eSATA is disabled by Navigator and 320GB just doesn't cut it with 100+ HD channels, I decided to attempt upgrading the box. I replaced the stock drive with a 1TB WD Black Edition and everything seems to be in order. Results may vary depending on division and special tools are required to complete it. I'm just reporting that it can be done. I don't endorse this if you don't have any technical knowledge or are uncomfortable working on electronics. Any modification to the box is done at your own risk.

I have a SA 8300HDC, and have been noticing recently that accessing and tuning through the Navigator guide can be very slow. Interestingly though, the slow down seems to occur after approximately 11:00 p.m.! Before 11 p.m., the guide responds relatively quickly in both accessing/opening the guide, and tuning through the channels on the guide. Anyone else experience this? I have not yet called TW customer service on this issue.

I would swap out the 8200/8300HDC for a newer 8640. TWC is very bad at letting us know when updates are coming.

DirecTV has had MRV available in the NR of their software since mid-May of this year.
Your boxes need to be connected (either running ethernet over your own network cables and router or over your DirecTV cables and SWM).
Once you have it set up, all of your DirecTV dvr's show on all of your DirecTV boxes, both other dvr's and non-dvr's.
You can start watching a recorded show in one room, pause it, and then watch the rest of it in another room. It will pick up from where you paused it when you start in the second room.

That's not accurate. You can ONL:Y use DirecTV MRV with HD Set tops and HD DVRs on DirecTV

That's not accurate. You can ONL:Y use DirecTV MRV with HD Set tops and HD DVRs on DirecTV It works on any box with an ethernet interface. That is several of their HD-DVRs and HD non-DVRs. If you upgrade (or subscribe) to Multi Room DVR service with connected-home as they call it, you'll get all HD boxes--even if the TV is SD--and MRV will work just fine.

Is their a non-DVR box newer than the 4250HDC yet that will be faster with the navigator software? I really can't take the lag anymore, 15+ seconds to wait for the channel to catch up to the button press is too much and drives me insane.
Do you think if I pregnant dog enough to TWC they will just give me a newer/faster DVR box and not make me pay extra for the DVR capabilities?

Time Warners newests boxes are the 4640HDC (non-DVR) and the 8640HDC (dvr). I have used both and they seem to perform fine by me.

I'm thinking of trading in my 8300HD for the 8640HDC. Is it faster and have any more storage space?

I did the online chat and complained to a rep and she said she'll put a note on my account and for me to go into a twc office to swap it out. I asked am I just swapping out for the same model I have or am I getting a new model, and she said an improved model, so I guess I'll find out tonight after work. Hopefully I can get the 4640HDC, or whine my way into a free dvr model.
