Yesterday, when the HD Net channels went off and Time Warner added 3 channels in their place, I felt compelled to call Time Warner and let them know my feelings.I asked to speak to a supervisor and when connected told her that removing quality programming and replacing it with second rate garbage is the best way to get me to change services. When I finished saying what I wanted to, the supervisor's response to me was that what I said was fine, but that my complaint would go no further than her.She didn't care.Time Warner doesn't care. I really need to get rid of Time Warner.Has anyone investigated the offer that Verizon is sending out which combines Verizon phone and internet with Direct TV?

Just called TW to cancel the HD Tier. The rep asked if it was because of the removal of HDNet and HDNet Movies. I told her not only that but also because the channels they replaced them with were an insult. She said she'd pass my comment on to programming. I tried to cancel last night when I noticed the channels were gone but the wait time was too long due to high traffic. Hmmm, I wonder why?

Excerpt from info on HDNet negotiations published here: But according to HDNet owner Mark Cuban (yes, he’s also the owner of the Dallas Mavericks), the deal wasn’t about the usual increase in carriage fees, which is the money companies pay per subscriber to offer a network’s TV channels. (Remember the whole Viacom fiasco when Viacom’s fee increase nearly resulted in the loss of Jon Stewart, Sponge Bob and MTV?)
“No, the exact opposite. We cut the fees considerably,” said Cuban, via e-mail.
Interestingly, Cuban says he was trying to get HDNet to become part of Time Warner’s digital basic cable package so that all customers could access the channel. HDNet Movies would remain on the special HD tier. The new deal would be “considerably less than what they were paying to have both on the (HD) tier,” he said. That could make some sense, I belive DIRECTV moved HDNet to their standard packages and left HDNet Movies in the HD Extra Pack not long ago--or at least I remember hearing mention of that. I can't tell because I have both.

Just called and dropped the HD Premium Tier. The guy asked why, I told him "I don't need Farm HD. HD Net was great, this is crap and not worth my money." He tried to sell me the Sports Tier instead saying I'd like Speed HD... I said no.
If it wouldn't make my bill go up every month, I'd switch to DirectTV.

Yeah, I just called and canceled HD Premium too. I've been meaning to do it for a while and just haven't gotten around to it. They also asked me if I wanted to get the Sports Tier instead and I said no but they did not ask me why I was canceling.

Anyone else notice that Time Warner still has HDNet programming on-demand on 1801? I wonder if they had a separate deal for VOD that hasn't expired yet. Or has TW just not realized it's still on there?

I called and cancelled the HD Tier over the weekend.
The CSR said, "You know, you will be losing 5 channels."
I replied, "I'm cancelling because you dropped the HD Net channels. I have no interest in the Farm HD channel."
I thought that might spark a discussion with the CSR, but no. He told me what my bill was dropping to and then said, "Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable."

Yeah same here, the CSR said nothing about HDnet or Farm HD. He suggested I'd like the Speed HD channel after telling him I didn't want Farm HD... yeah.
Canceled my phone with them today, got my bill down even more. Debating canceling Cinemax and TMC too to get things down further.
Still debating switching to DirecTV because of how much more quality HD content they have, even without the HD Premium Package.

Oh yeah, by the way, the CSR rep I spoke with when I canceled the HD Tier... when he suggested I get the Sports Tier, he told me "the Big 10 Network in HD looks amazing, you might like that." I told him that channel hasn't been added yet, and he had to try putting that channel on in his office to find out.

I really miss HD Net and HD Net Movies.
There always seemed to be a movie or original programming to watch when you had 20 minutes or so to relax.
Plus, the wife keeps looking for both The Ultimate Trailer Show and Nothing But Trailers on the TiVo. I had season passes set up to record all the new episodes. This was the way we kept our Netflix queue up to date. Watching the trailer shows was a family routine until TWC killed HDNet.

Assuming you have a TivoHD/S3, there's a little app I downloaded (it's in the Home Media section on the Tivo community). Hdtrailer.net or something. Run it on your PC and it'll download the trailers and then you can TTG to your Tivo. Not QUITE as nice as HDNET, but it does in a pinch.
