Nice solid signal over here in Adams, Ma in the shadow of MT. Greylock. It's a tough spot behind the mountain about 55 miles out from the tower. I'm using a high band VHF ten element yagi. Signal a little stronger than WNYT. Glad to see DT 23 up and running. I am only able to get the locals in digital via OTA. I did notice a little sound sync issue with Everybody Loves Raymond at 7:00 pm, and of course the "gray" bars vice black on the 4:3 picture. All of which we can live with to have Fox in HD.
Complements to Sarge and his staff to get this up and running so quickly after getting the hardware.

Was able to receive 23-1 In Hudson on my 2 DirecTV HD boxes last evening. My newer box registers the signal at the high end of normal while my older box bounces between 65 and 58 out of 100. I get a nice picture on the newer but some checkereing on the 2nd. It most likely is an issue at my end.

Fox affiliate begins digital broadcasts From Capital District Business Review, December 23, 2005
After almost two years of challenges and delays, WXXA/Channel 23 finally has gotten its digital broadcast station on the air.
The Albany, N.Y., Fox affiliate has been providing digital, high-definition programming to cable subscribers for about two years, but had been unable to provide an over-the-air digital signal.
The problem arose when WXXA, which had been assigned Channel 4 as a its digital channel, requested a move to Channel 7. This led to challenges from stations in adjacent television markets, who feared interference.
With the digital channel, dubbed FOX23.1, WXXA will be able to offer high-definition programming and will have the ability to deliver additional channels of programming at 23.2 and 23.3. FOX23.1 will be a simulcast of the analog WXXA, including all FOX network programming that is available in high definition That includes American Idol, House, 24, The O.C., Bones, Prison Break, and FOX Sports including the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NASCAR.
The station will announce its programming plans for Digital 23.2 and 23.3 at a later date.

Getting a solid, no problem signal here in eastern Rensselaer county near the Vermont border (Hoosick Falls). I'm about 40 miles from towers.

The station will announce its programming plans for Digital 23.2 and 23.3 at a later date. Please, no more weather loops! You probably couldn't get the rights, but my vote is for Fox News on one and Fx on the other. Or how about an SD version of WXXA's air, delayed 3 hours, give or take, to allow an alternative viewing time.

From: WXXA websiteStatus of WXXA-DT as of 12/28/05 WXXA-DT began digital television transmission on channel 7 at a power level of 10 kilowatts average effective radiated power at 4 PM December 20, 2005. All local programming is up-converted to a 720P HD 4 x 3 format. All Fox network programming is in the 720 HD format in 4 x 3, or 16x 9 depending on the program. WXXA-DT also feeds a HD program stream via fiber to Time Warner Cable where it is carried on channel 1808. Any reception reports would be appreciated.
Administrator's note: Send reception reports to WXXA's Chief Engineer Sarge Cathrall by clicking this link. Tell him you are from AlbanyHDTV.com.

Reception with an over air antenna: Getting lots of splotches & checkering, with periodic signal blackouts a couple of days ago. My location is in Clifton Park, just SW of Northway Exit 8.
I doubt if the issue is on my end, as I am receiving all the other Albany digital channels just fine...
