I had initially purchased the Epson 9350 and had the same issue with noise @ 1080i. Blu Ray and 720p looked great. I flipped it out for the next model up (Epson Pro Cinema 9700) which was just released a few months ago, Same issue with 1080i. Over at the AVS forum there is a dedicated thread with regard to this model. The guy who started it has DTV and claims he's never had an issue like I've described. He was the one who initially spoke of the issue of picture noise with cable. I also spoke with a TWC tech rep and he basically admitted to me that it was becoming an issue as displays became better and bigger. I have also tried every setting my pre-pro offers. 1080i, 1080p, passthrough, auto, and now 720p. Now, 720p solved my issue and cleaned things up visually but I am perplexed mentally if you know what I mean. To the above poster speaking of OTA, does that mean Over The Air? What is it exactly and how do I get it? Hit the link below and scroll down a bit till you see the screenshots of halftime. This was a setting called Vivid which was also calibrated by me to an extent. www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1282483&page=10Also, here is the spec sheet of my Projector: www.epson.com/cmc_upload/0/000/171/788/PLPC_9700UB_ProdSpecs.pdfThanks for you input, keep it coming! Hi, Just replaced my Sony HS 20 projector with an Epson 9700. Awesome Blu Ray & 720 imaging. However 1080i is borderline bad with image noise, image trails, especially during sports or live concerts. I spoke with the North American rep for Epson and he's basically telling me that the projector is so good that it's exposing the over compression and down right dirty cable send from my cable provider. I've been told that the DTV send is less compressed and overall better with regard to overall image quality.
Can anyone here provide me with a comparison chart of signal strength, etc... I need to do something to justify to my wife my recent expenditures. She basically can't comprehend how the projector is so good that it exposes bad 1080i cable image...
Thank you for your input!

One thing George Bush forgot to mention is not to watch the speech on Fox. Flipping through all of the HD channels during the speech really showed how Fox's PQ quality lacked compared to the others... They tout themselves as the finest HD transmission channel on earth!! Tony G

So the X-Mass Day ESPN game was not in HD and it appears the ABC game won't be either!
What is the point of having all of this gear if they don't broadcast it properly!
Miffed!

Just what the hell is circle surround? Why does Wten self promote 5.1 digital surround for the game? I sure didn't have anything circular in my room! In fact it was 2 channel digital. TNT had much better sound for the games last week than did Wten(ABC).
Just venting!+ I'm a Laker Fan!

Thanks,

Hello, I spoke w/the ceo (Mark Shifter) of AV 123 the other night and it looks like this event will happen at our home. He will be bringing all they have to offer in terms of HT/2 channel listening gear and setting up 2-3 different listening rooms in our house. They also carry a host of products such as line doublers/upconverters/Denon products/Harmony remotes/processors etc... This company is much different than most in that they buck the system. They are truly committed to customer satisfaction in service as well as the products they have developed with a "Beauty In Workmanship" that is simply second to none! This is probably a "ONE TIME" opportunity for people in the Northeast to get a glimpse of the high standard of Design/Sound that goes into a product line that will satisfy the needs of most HT/2channel listeners. Please let me stress that while we are hosting this get together I am not a paid representative for AV 123. I am simply an enthusiast that has appreciated my experience w/this company and I want to help spread the word. This will not be an event where you can purchase gear. The purpose is to let all who are interested hear and see products that they otherwise would not have a chance to because they are an internet based company. They truly have a much higher standard than most if not all of the local retail venues to which we are all aware of in our area! There will be food and spirits both days @ no cost cost to attendees, and I'm not talking "Cheese & Crackers"! The dates are 5/22-5/23. Depending on a head count it may only need to be one day which would be Sunday 5/23. If anyone is interested please go to www.av123.com and register yourself on the site. Then go to the Loudspeakers forum and look for "EAST COAST SHINDIG" and post that you will be attending! If there is even one interested party I will post directions and particulars once this date approaches. Please RSVP soon @ www.av123.com. Thank you for your consideration! Tony G

Hi Guys, There is a possibility that my wife & I will be hosting a get together at our home on Saratoga Lake w/ the CEO of AV 123 (Mark Shifter) (www.av123.com). This will entail 2 listening rooms full of all of they have to offer. I am a proud owner of Onix Rockets, a speaker line designed and built by them and have been quite satisfied w/ my investment. They will also be debuting a new pre/pro called the "Emotiva" as well as some their refrence line and a host of other high audio equiptment. If you go to the web site (www.av123.com) look in the forum section under Loudspeakers and go to the thread "East Coast Shindig", you can get more info there. It will be a 2 day event sometime in May where audiophiles from around the East Coast will attend(appox 30 people) to offer opinions as well as their expertise in high end home theater, 2 channel listening and SACD/DVD listening. I will keep you all informed as to the progress of this event. You are all welcome to attend. You can go to the gallery page of their web site and look for my name (Tony G) to view our Home Theater - "The Rocket Lounge"
Thank you!
