Hi Everyone, I spend a majority of my time at the Time Warner Albany site, requesting new channels almost daily from the Programming menu. I usually request 60 or so at a time or until I get dizzy. Cool, I didn't realize that you could do that. I've just added my request for the Sci-Fi HD channel.

Another question for anyone who has received an activated the TA. Does it allow the use of On Demand? While that kind of functionality would have been cool to have, the tuning adapter can only only signal back up to the cable company your request for a specific channel. I would guess that how pay per view channels are handled is specific to each cable company vendor. If they tried to add that, which would be basically duplicating a good chunk of what will be in Tru2way, we would still be waiting for our tuning adapters.

I finally received my letter, it's a good thing I didn't need to bring i to a Tuning Adapter. That buys us a year or two until TWC rolls out Tru2Way. I'll be ready for a TiVo Series 4 by then.

I can work from home on occasion and I had already planned on being home....
I had to call TWC to get the TA to work too. The LED was blinking 8 times in row, with a 2 second pause. It took about 30 minutes to get it going and we had to power the TA down a few times. Now it's working. It sounds like they have to enable the TA once you hook it up. It's going to be a busy day for TWC support.
I did have funny thing happen. I had the Tivo on 1825 while testing and it kept coming up blank during the SDV test. The other channels were fine, just 1825. It turned out that both tuners were on 1825 and since one was never changing from 1825, the TiVo and/or the TA was not sending the signal back to the mothership. Once I switched to the 2nd tuner and changed channels, 825 started working.

I just went down to TWC with a printout of the email and they handed me a Tuning Adapter. They did check my name off a list, to verify that I was signed up for one.
They had more TA's on the shelf, they just don't have enough to stack 300 or so tuning adapters on the shelf. I asked what they did if you have more than one Tivo HD or Series 3 and they said they would give you enough TA's.
I wouldn't worry about rushing down there, if you got the letter or a call from TWC in the last day or so, you should be OK.

I'm guess I'm just going to drive over there tomorrow, letter or not. We should all meet at a given time so we can bully them as a group. I'm going to head over there on my way into work tomorrow. I've now received two calls from TW to tell be about the fabled Tuning Adapter. Letters? I don't need no steenkin' letter.

I was just called back by the CSR that I spoke with a few hours ago. He was calling to confirm my address as they sent out the letters this afternoon and he saw my address on the list of addresses. I'm tempted to work from home on Friday just so I can grab the letter and head down to TWC and get a shiny new Tuning Adapter.

If you follow Twitter, @tivoblog ( twitter.com/TiVoBlog) out in Utica just received his Tuning Adapter in the mail today. Come on TW Albany, even Time Warner of Central NY is shipping these things out. What's the hold up?

I just called TW Albany and now they (CSR Sean) are saying that they are shipping out the Tuning Adapters in the order that you are in the list.
That's what's I love the most about TW Albany, if you don't like the answer they give, just call back and the next person will tell you something else.

Knowing them, we'll have to sign up for a "Tuning Adapter Connector Kit" on the website, which will be delayed for about 2 years, and, when finally released, will be handed out to anyone who asks prior to those that signed up. But that kit will contain the wrong USB cable so you'll just have to bring it back anyway. Yes, I'm still angry. Don't forget, you'll have to sign up for a waiting list to get the Connector kit. Most kits will be missing the either the USB or the COAX, but not both. Approximately 10% of the kits will contain neither, but will have a 4 pin FireWare cable. Oh, and the USB cables? They will be 4 inches long. That wont matter because it will be the wrong gender and you wont be able to plug them in anyways. Other than that, i"m not anticipating any additional problems.

Nah, i't Time Warner. That means the rollout is coming from the Acme Corporation, the leading vendor of rocket propelled roller skates.

I tried it this morning and it does looks really nice. The new search fully utilizes the extra resolution of the HD display. It was pretty slow and appeared to freeze when I tried to create a WishList search from a selection. After a few minutes, I cancelled the search and was able to go back to the main menu. I sent in a bug report, it would be great if they can fix the performance issues.
I'm not sure how much of performance issues can be addressed, it is doing look ups to see if any upcoming shows will match your search criteria. If the TiVo is processing the search, then the searching wont get much faster. If they are doing the searches via a web service, then it should get much faster as they can scale their search servers with faster hardware and more efficient code.
