I have a source that has told me there that verizon is planning a "big fios tv push" in the capital region in 2010.. hopefully it comes true

midwestern college sports, soccer, hunting, and the history channel in spanish, none of which are even in HD.. I got this email this morning too and it was quite a disappointment for me, especially seeing all the channels other TWC customers are getting in other parts of the country (where there is probably actual competition)

well I decided I didn't want to wait til friday to have this resolved so I looked around the tivo community forum and apparently the 8 blinks is somewhat common, and was able to be resolved by just calling TWC, so I tried that again hoping for better luck. I called, spoke to another CSR Chris, and he was able to refresh and see my TA. The blinking stopped all together, I hit the power button on the front of the TA, it turned on, tivo immediately recognized the TA was connected and started refreshing the channels, that took maybe 3-4 minutes and it was back.. I guess with calling about this stuff, maybe it just depends on who you talk to.. nothing got changed on my end between last night and this morning, as in I didn't go around plugging and unplugging stuff.. maybe the stars were aligned, who knows, but my TA is working and I have my SDV channels back.

I am having TA troubles today.. rebooted my TA and had a steady blinking light, did it again now it blinks 8 times, then stops, and goes 8 more times, etc etc. Called TWC spoke to CSR Chris who was very nice and after he had me check the cables and unplug it a couple times, he scheduled a truck roll. He said my signal is too strong. He said it could be due to removing tvs in my house, and I told him I live in an apt complex and my neighbor below me moved out a couple days ago and he said that could be it. It sucks cause the tech can't come out til Friday, and I have tomorrow off due to the Holiday.. so my tivo is gonna miss most of my shows this week unless I go through and manually add all the SD versions of shows, which will be a major PITA.. might just download this week's shows if I don't watch them live.

So sometimes when I'm watching a show in HD it looks pixelated and to be frank, it looks like crap, especially when there is a lot of motion. I don't notice any rhyme or reason to it either. Some channels/shows look fine, but some look like garbage. Does TWC compress select HD channels/shows? I know other cable companies are doing it, and I'm just assuming this is what I'm seeing.

Apparently, they miscounted the number of people on the mailing list, because they ran out of them less than halfway through the day. yeah I think they will give you as many as you want (the max is probably the number of cable cards you have).. it was funny when I picked mine up, the girl that gave it to me said these were really popular today, and one guy must really like his cause he came in and got 2.. was probably talking about skaggs ;D

yeah don't buy an hdmi cable at one of the big box stores.. those things are the biggest d**n ripoff ever.. if you order from newegg most of the time you can get a 6 foot cable for 10 bucks and free shipping (not to mention no tax, but don't tell paterson). Newegg also has a warehouse in NJ so if you order by closing today you'll most likely have it in your hands tomorrow, even with the free/cheap shipping.

Oh yeah...I didn't get my "letter" from TWC in today's mail, either. yeah me either.. and the twc rep on the phone was so insistent they wouldn't give me the tuning adapter without the letter.. the big thing I've learned from this whole experience is how there are 20 different stories and rules and updates that all depend on which rep you get.. they need to start having more meetings and keeping everyone on the same page.. its really pathetic
